Sportfishing and Diving Club meeting to discuss artificial reefs

Artificial reefs will be the topic at Thursday’s monthly meeting of the Beaufort Sportfishing and Diving Club, set for 7 p.m. at the Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club on Lady’s Island.

Bob Matore, artificial reef coordinator for the state Department of Natural Resources, will present new underwater videos on local artificial reefs and deepwater reefs. A special presentation also will introduce the use of artificial Christmas trees as reef material.

All attendants will receive a copy of the new Artificial Reef Guide from the Department of Natural Resources. A social will begin at 6:30 p.m., and guests do not need a reservation. For more information, contact Capt. Frank Gibson at 843-522-2122 or via email at fgibson@islc.net.
