Silver anniversary Hilton Head Island Bridge Run set for next weekend

Registration remains open for next Saturday's 25th annual Hargray Hilton Head Island Bridge Run, which takes participants over the Broad Creek Bridge and onto the Cross Island Bridge.

Past editions of the annual 10K and 5K races have drawn more than 500 runners to the start line at Crossings Park. Prizes will be awarded to top runners in each male and female age group, along with top overall competitors.

Entry fees are $40 for the 10K competition and $35 for the 5K, with every runner receiving a colorful Bridge Run T-shirt while supplies last.

Since its inception in 1992, the Bridge Run has raised more than $44,000 for local charities. This year’s event will benefit Hurricane Matthew relief and local Special Olympics programs.
