Veteran pro coming to lacrosse camp next week at Island Rec Center

Drew Petkoff, a six-year National Lacrosse League defenseman, will make a guest appearance during a four-day lacrosse camp next week hosted by the Island Rec Center for to players ages 7-15.

Petkoff spent last season with the Georgia Swarm after dividing his previous five years between the New England Black Wolves, Buffalo Bandits and Toronto Rock. His three years in Toronto included an NLL championship in 2011.

Petkoff will work with campers in Monday’s opening sesson. Veteran coach Christian Harris will direct the camp, which runs through Thursday on the Island Rec Center fields. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.

Registration is $80 for boys and $75 for girls, with no previous experience required. There is a limited supply of equipment for new participants. To sign up or for more information, go online to IslandRecCenter.org.
