Sun City swimmers take medal haul at Senior Sports Classic

Ann Tulley and Joanne Stewart won six events apiece to lead a haul of more than 30 gold medals by Sun City Swim Club entrants at last week's South Carolina Senior Sports Classic in Florence.

Nana Whalen added five victories to her collection, while Susan Earnest and Ginny South captured four events each. Joanne Hines, Tom Bastian, Elaine Bartholomew and Pete Gordon also won events for the club.

The state event serves as a qualifier for the National Senior Games that will be contested in June 2017 in Birmingham, Ala. All nine SCSC event winners qualified for nationals, along with teammates Caroline Kemmerling and Cynthia Smith.
