Ned Nielson captures DDS&A Cup at Windmill Harbour Regatta
Ned Nielson of the South Carolina Yacht Club captured the DDS&A Cup at last weekend’s Windmill Harbour Regatta, compiling the best score over a nine-race weekend series for Harbor 20 class racing boats in Calibogue Sound.
Nielsen, at the helm of “Arcadia,” beat out fellow SCYC member Domenico De Sole (”Slingshot”) atop the points race. Mathew Monts (”Adventure”) made it a clean sweep for the club by placing third.
John Singleton of the Yacht Club of Hilton Head Island captured the crown in the Flying Scott series, sailing “TTFN.” Everett Ballenger of the Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club was the victor in the PHRF Handicapped Class series, winning in the “Stray Cat II,” a Holder 20 that was the smallest boat in the mixed-class competition.
