Youth rowers take home 5 medals from Georgia regatta

Hilton Head Island Crew, comprised of high-school rowers from the Hilton Head and Bluffton area, earned a silver medal and four bronze medals from last weekend’s John Hunter Regatta in Gainesville, Ga.

The club finished second in the men’s novice 8s, clocking a time of 7 minutes, 33.80 seconds at the Olympic Rowing Stadium on Lake Lanier where the 1996 Olympic competition was held. HHIC also took third in the men’s youth 4s, men’s novice 4s, women’s lightweight 4s and women’s novice 8s.

The club next is scheduled to compete in an April 2 regatta at Clemson.
