Hilton Head’s RBC Heritage Plaid Nation Day: What spectators are wearing

Plaid Nation Day is officially here.

As thousands of spectators headed to Harbour Town Golf Links on Saturday for the third pro-playing day at the 2025 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing, tartan plaid was spotted as far as the eye could see.

These Scottish stripes couldn’t go unnoticed from the many hats, skirts, blazers and more that sprinkled the roadways, stands and seats scattered throughout the course.

While spectators have shown out in their tartan plaid every day this week, Saturday is when it really counts.

On the tournament’s third day, spectators participate in Plaid Nation Day, which combines sportsmanship and fun, as the players compete for a piece of the $20 million purse.

From 12-2 p.m., games and fun take place around the Heritage Lawn, located by the 17th and 18th holes, to bring energy and enthusiasm to the high-stakes hours of the competition.

Here are a few of the standout tartan plaid outfits from 2025 spectators:

Scottish Kilts

Don’t be fooled, these gentlemen in kilts are bringing the needed spirit and energy to the final days of RBC Heritage.

Babies in Bubbles

Perhaps one of the most eye-catching outfits comes from the tournament’s smallest spectators, who love to show up and show out for the golfers, too.

Family Fun

Plaid Nation Day gets the whole crew into the golf spirit. For this family, that involved inflatable hats, blazers, pants, dresses and plaid sunglasses to complete the look.

Bending the Rules

For those who wanted to avoid full plaid but still show off their enthusiasm for the game, they opted for colorful linen tops that still kept the golf fun going.

Sir Willie

A look at all the RBC Heritage plaid outfits wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Sir Willie, the iconic Scotsman who brings laughs and a thick accent to spectators enjoying the game. From his top hat to his Croc shoe Jibbitz, he’s got the plaid look nailed down.
