World’s No. 1 golfer will play at Hilton Head’s RBC Heritage. 4 PGA Tour stars to join him
With less than two weeks to go until the world’s best golfers tee it up for the 56th RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, five more PGA Tour stars have committed to compete — including the No. 1 golfer in the world.
The additions were announced on Friday. The Heritage is April 15-21.
No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who has eight PGA Tour wins since the beginning of the 2021 season including the 2022 Masters and last month’s Players Championship, leads the list of the most recent commitments to the South Carolina tournament. The New Jersey native, who played golf at the University of Texas and now calls Dallas home, will be making his second start at the RBC Heritage.
Others stars who will be joining this year’s Heritage field are world No. 10 and six-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa; world No. 6 Viktor Hovland, a Norwegian who won the FedExCup title in 2023; two-time major winner Collin Morikawa, ranked 16th; and world No. 5 Xander Schauffele, who earned a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics.
PGA Tour pros have until Monday, April 15, to commit to compete. The complete field will be posted on RBCHeritage.com at that time.
RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing is South Carolina’s only Signature PGA Tour event. Being included as one of the PGA Tour’s “signature events” translates into a smaller but star-filled field of about 70 players, the absence of a Friday afternoon cut line and a purse of $20 million.
It was previously announced that Clemson alum Lucas Glover of Greenville and world No. 8 Brian Harman of Savannah will tee it up at Harbour Town Golf Links.
The tournament is hosted by the not-for-profit Heritage Classic Foundation, which distributes proceeds from the tournament to hundreds of non-profit organizations.
Tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are sold out, but fans who missed out will still have the opportunity to visit Ticketmaster.com and buy on the resale market.
