Who saw Pearl Jam hanging out on Hilton Head?

What does a band on tour do when they skip over North Carolina because of that state’s transgender bathroom ruling?

They come to Hilton Head Island for some rest and relaxation, obviously.

Several sources have said Eddie Vedder and crew were spotted at the Westin this past week, after their show in Hampton, Va., where Vedder apologized to Raleigh fans and said, “There is nothing like the immense power of a boycott.”

Kati Schroeder of Hilton Head heard the news that Pearl Jam was here so she sent her husband, Charlie, on a mission to scout out the hotel for a sighting of her favorite singer on Wednesday. Kati, however — in a Pearl Jam shirt and on the way to soccer practice with her three kids — changed her mind at the last minute and headed over to Port Royal Plantation herself.

“My kids thought I was a total dork,” she said.

When she got to the golf club, where the band’s three slick buses were parked, who did she encounter?

Not the band. Sorry, not the band.

Charlie!

He was there checking out the buses himself. The two had their kids take pictures of them in front of one of the buses, which they later posted on Facebook. And Charlie took a walk around the Westin to see if he could pick Vedder out of the crowd.

No such luck.

The Schroeders, though, will get to see Vedder tonight at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, where he might just play Kati’s favorite song, “Sirens.”

Anyone else hear anything about Pearl Jam’s Lowcountry visit? Come on, guys, where’d they eat dinner? And please tell me Vedder went surfing at least once.
