Letter: Highway medians a disgrace

This letter is an inquiry regarding how frequently the medians are mowed on U.S. 278. As we are the gateway to Hilton Head Island, would it be too much to ask that we present a better picture to visitors and locals?

If the grass gets any higher in some places, we will not be able to see cars going in the opposite direction, let alone also seeing trash along the highway as well.

When we first moved here in 2001, there were beautiful crepe myrtles planted in the medians, which were removed when the lanes were expanded. The Bluffton Parkway has trees, and other plants and looks so neat compared to the medians on U.S. 278.

It’s a disgrace that our state does not have enough pride in itself to deal with mowing in a timely manner.
