Which schools, roads & offices are open or closed after Beaufort County snow?

As winter weather brought rare snow and extreme cold to Beaufort County this weekend, many locations have altered their operations to combat the hazardous conditions.

Here’s a running list of what we know is open, closed or operating on a limited schedule on Monday, Feb. 2.

This report will be updated as more locations announce plans. If there is a location we missed, please email amiller@islandpacket.com to have it added.

Schools

Beaufort County School District: BCSD will have an eLearning and remote workday Monday, Feb. 2. District buildings will be closed and all extracurricular activities cancelled.

Jasper County School District: Jasper County School District will operate on an eLearning schedule on Monday, Feb. 2.

Technical College of the Lowcounty: All TCL campuses will be closed Monday, Feb. 2. Classes and normal operations will resume Tuesday, Feb. 3.

University of South Carolina Beaufort: All USCB campuses will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2 until 5 p.m. Classes will be online. Basketball games against Lander University have been rescheduled to Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Roads & Bridges

As of 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, May River Road from Buckwalter Parkway to Buck Island Road was briefly shut down due to ice. It is now reopened.

No other roads in Beaufort or Jasper counties were closed as of Sunday afternoon, according to the SCDOT’s Roadway Information System website.

Government Offices & Utilities

Beaufort County Government Offices/Facilities: All county facilities will be closed Monday, Feb. 2. They are scheduled to reopen with normal hours on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Beaufort County Sheriffs Office: BCSO will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2. For those in need of assistance or need to speak with a deputy, BCSO says to call the non-emergency dispatch line at 843-524-2777.

Town of Hilton Head Island: Town of Hilton Head Island administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2 and will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 3. Town services that can be accessed online will be available on Monday, Feb. 2.

City of Beaufort: City of Beaufort offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 2. The 1 p.m. Planning Commission meeting and 5 p.m. Waterfront Advisory Committee will be rescheduled.

Beaufort Police Department: Beaufort Police Department’s administrative offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 2. For those in need of assistance or need to speak with a deputy, call the non-emergency dispatch line at 843-524-2777.

Town of Bluffton: Town of Bluffton offices will be closed to the public on Monday, Feb. 2. Town staff will work remotely.

Bluffton Township Fire District: Bluffton Township Fire District’s administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2.

Town of Port Royal Police Department: Town of Port Royal Police Department’s administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2 and reopen at 8 a.m. on Feb. 3.

Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office: Offices across the Fourteenth Circuit judicial circuit will be closed, Monday, Feb. 2 and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Cold Weather Shelters

Sea Island Presbyterian Church at 81 Lady’s Island Drive: Open all day Sunday, Feb 1. Closes 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2.

Christ Lutheran Church at 829 William Hilton Parkway: Open 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb 1. and Monday, Feb. 2.
