Teen was fatally shot, say SC police who are searching for her killer
A teenager was shot and killed over the weekend in South Carolina, according to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
Evangeline Mancera, 18, was identified as the shooting victim, Coroner Karla Deese said.
The shooting happened late Saturday night, according to the Lancaster Police Department. At about 11:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of an unresponsive person at the Palmetto Place Apartments on Pardue Street, police said.
At the apartment complex, officers found Mancera suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to police. Mancera died at the scene, the coroner’s office said. An autopsy has been scheduled, according to the coroner’s office.
No other injuries were reported.
Information about the shooter, or shooters, and how many people were involved, was not available, and there was no word on a motive for the gunfire.
No arrests have been reported, but the shooting continues to be investigated by police and the coroner’s office. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit is assisting the investigation.

“Violence of this nature is unacceptable in our community,” Police Chief Don Roper said in a news release. “We will pursue justice for the victim and her family. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time as we work to uncover the circumstances surrounding this crime.”
