A Midlands man is going to find out if the grass is greener after winning a $200,000 lottery jackpot.

One thing is for sure, the grass on his lawn will be shorter after the winner said he would spend some of his six-digit prize on on a new lawn mower, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“I’m so happy,” the man said in a news release.

On his way home from work, the man bought the $5 Lady Luck scratch-off game at the Kwik Mart at 2352 Peach Orchard Rd. in Sumter, according to the release. That’s near Shaw Air Force Base.

He scratched the ticket at home and had to sit down when he realized it was worth six-figures, officials said.

“I just stared at it,” he said.

The man’s name has not been released because South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

Other than expecting to have a fresh-cut lawn, the winner did not reveal any other plans for the newfound windfall.

The odds of winning the top prize in the Lady Luck a game are one-in-750,000, according to the release. One of the game’s four top prizes remain unclaimed, officials said.

The convenience store received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed winning ticket, according to the release.
