Crash causes injuries, blocks interstate in Richland County during commute
A Tuesday morning collision on an interstate running though Richland County caused injuries and created delays for commuting drivers.
The crash happened at about 9 a.m. on Interstate 20, the South Carolina Department of Transportation said on Twitter.
Two eastbound lanes were blocked by the wreck at Exit 65, according to the tweet. That’s the Broad River Road (U.S. 176) exit in Columbia.
Injuries were reported in the collision, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Information on the number of people hurt, and their conditions, was not available.
Traffic cameras showed cars backed up for miles on I-20.before the highway was reopened at about 10:15 a.m., SCDOT tweeted.
The scene was not cleared, as emergency vehicles and other cars remained on the right shoulder of I-20, traffic cameras showed.
The cause of the collision, and the number of vehicles involved, has not been made available.
