Two men hurt in Lexington trailer park shootout, one was found in Columbia, cops say

Two men were injured in an early morning shooting at a trailer park in Lexington, police say.

After reports of multiple shots fired at the Hickory Hill Mobile Home Park, one man was found laying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound, the Lexington Police Department said in a news release.

A short time later, another man who had been shot was found in Columbia, police said.

Officers responded to the mobile home park at 142 Industrial Drive at about midnight on Thursday morning, according to the release. That’s near the junction of South Lake Drive and Interstate 20, at Exit 55.

During the investigation, witnesses said multiple shots were fired and man who might have been involved in the shooting left in a white sedan, police reported.

While officers were still investigating the crime scene, the Columbia Police Department responded to a call of a man who had been shot and needed medical attention, according to the release.

He was found in a white sedan on Beltline Boulevard near downtown Columbia, and Lexington police said he’s believed to be involved in the mobile home park shooting.

Both men suffered wounds that were called non-life-threatening injuries by Lexington police.

Further information on their condition was not available.

There is no word on what prompted the gunfire, or if anyone else was involved, but the shooting is being investigated by the Lexington Police Department, Columbia Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Neither man has been identified as a suspect at this point in the investigation, Lexington police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911, the Lexington police at 803-358-1514, or report it to CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
