A candidate forum Wednesday evening will feature the four residents running for two four-year seats on the Port Royal Town Council.

The forum, at 6 p.m., will be conducted via Zoom. It is organized by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.

On Nov. 2, voters will select two council members for at-large seats.

The candidates are incumbents Mary Beth Heyward and Darryl Owens and challengers Eddie Gugino and John Hazel.

If you have an issue or question for the forum, please email it to mmorris@beaufortchamber.org.

The Nov. 2 election comes at a critical time for the town. It’s on the verge of a major redevelopment of the Port of Port Royal. It’s also trying to figure out the future of its shrimp docks and associated facilities, which were losing money until the town suspended operations earlier this year.
