Update: Hilton Head precinct 5A results have been reported, as of Nov. 10.

Ninety-one of 92 Beaufort County precincts have reported their vote totals from the Nov. 8 general election. The “missing” precinct is Hilton Head 5A, where a voting machine awaits precious IT support.

According to Beaufort County elections director Marie Smalls, one of the precinct’s voting machines malfunctioned and poll workers have not been able to pull voters’ cast ballots from it.

The machines are made by Election Systems & Software, which contracts with a company called Print Elect for technical support, Smalls said. There are exactly three Print Elect technicians certified to work on the machines in South Carolina, and she said she did not know when they’ll get to Beaufort County’s machine.

Hilton Head 5A residents vote at the Dolphin Head Club, 56 High Bluff Road. In the 2016 primary, there were 1,068 registered voters in the precinct and turnout was about 10.5 percent, according to the S.C. State Election Commission.
