1 bond denied, 2nd increased for Georgia couple in brutal assault of woman, teen over cold chicken
The Georgia couple caught on camera brutally assaulting a restaurant owner and her 15-year-old daughter held their bond hearing on Tuesday, according to WTOC.
Superior Court Judge Anthony Harrison denied the bond for Eric Smith and increased LaTasha Smith's bond from $10,000 to $25,000, WTOC reports.
WTOC says the judge denied Eric Smith's bond "because of his previous and 'significant' criminal record."
Eric Smith told Judge Harrison that he was on medication for depression, bipolar disorder and diabetes on the day of the assault, WTOC reports.
The assault occurred on June 22 at the Qwik Chik restaurant in Baxley, Georgia. On the video, LaTasha Smith is seen attacking restaurant owner Jeanette Norris. When Norris' teenage daughter tries to come to her mother's aid, Eric Smith punches the teenager in the face.
Both Norris and her daughter suffered bruises and black eyes from the attack. Norris also suffered a broken nose.
The Smiths are now facing charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to children, according to WTOC.
