Troopers searching for suspect SUV after pedestrian hit-and-run on Hilton Head

State troopers are searching for a suspect vehicle after a hit-and-run on Hilton Head Island left a pedestrian seriously injured early Sunday morning.

The collision happened around 1:50 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 278 (Palmetto Bay Road), near the highway’s intersection with Dunnagans Alley, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The pedestrian suffered “great bodily injuries,” says a SCHP flyer seeking information about the crash.

Based on surveillance video, the car involved appeared to be a silver or gray SUV that was last seen traveling west on U.S. 278. The car should have damage to its front, hood and windshield, police said.

Anyone with information about this collision is encouraged to submit a tip by calling SCHP at 843-661-4705.
