Update: I-95 traffic moving after Tuesday crash
8:10 p.m. update: Cameras show traffic appears to be moving again. Some congestion is reported between exit 5 near Hardeeville and exit 8 towards Hilton Head.
7 p.m. update: The right lane on I-95 south remained closed, and traffic between exits 8 and 18 was moving slowly. About four miles of congestion was reported between exits 18 and 21; cars were moving at 20 miles per hour, on average.
6:02 p.m. update: Traffic appeared to clear just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to cameras posted on the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s website. The SCDOT said the right lane remains closed, but others are open.
5:55 p.m.: Parts of Interstate 95 southbound were closed Tuesday evening after a crash brought traffic to a standstill near Hardeeville.
As of 5:44 p.m. Tuesday, all lanes of I-95 south were blocked between exit 8 for U.S. 278 to Hilton Head Island and exit 18 for South Carolina Highway 13 to Ridgeland, according to traffic cameras on SCDOT’s website.
Closer to Ridgeland, traffic was moving at an average speed of 12 miles per hour, and 30 miles per hour near Hardeeville. The traffic spanned for a total of 3 miles, according to SCDOT.
