A crash on U.S. 278 Tuesday afternoon bogs down traffic in Bluffton, officials say
The right eastbound lane getting off of the bridge toward Bluffton is closed after a crash early Tuesday afternoon, according to an alert from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Drivers can expect delays following the crash, which happened around 1:20 p.m., near Moss Creek Drive, police said in the alert. The lane is being blocked by police and cars involved in the crash.
Earlier Tuesday morning, that area was bogged down by traffic from a construction project taking place near Spanish Wells Road. At that time, traffic was backed up starting from the Rose Hill area in Bluffton, according to previous reporting from the Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette.
