Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed Wednesday in crash on SC 170 in Beaufort County

One person has died after a crash between a car and a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon on S.C. 170 and Callawassie Drive, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Shawn Campbell,23, of Beaufort was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday, according to Beaufort County Coroner David Ott.

The crash occurred around noon between a Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Campbell, and a 2018 Dodge Charger Sedan, said Master Trooper James Miller, a spokesperson with the highway patrol.

The Dodge, which was heading west on S.C. 170, was getting ready to turn left onto Callawassie Drive while Campbell was going east on the motorcycle and the two collided.

An autopsy for Campbell was completed Wednesday at the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office Autopsy Suite and it was concluded that he died of blunt force trauma, Ott said.

The crash is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
