Second accident Monday on U.S. 21 causes afternoon traffic jam in Port Royal, police say
A two-car crash on Richmond Avenue and Ribaut Road has shut down traffic lanes of U.S. 21 in Port Royal, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash, which took place before 4 p.m., blocked all lanes heading north on U.S. 21. Drivers can expect delays, the alert said. Traffic was being redirected on Waddell Road.
This is the second crash on U.S. 21 Monday. The first, which took place near Shanklin Road in Burton, resulted in the death of at least one woman and injured two others. Kari Matthews, 26, of Vineland, New Jersey, was identified by the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office as the woman who died.
At least six people were killed on South Carolina roadways over the weekend, according to the latest data from the Department of Public Safety.
