Estill woman killed in Monday afternoon crash with log truck in Ridgeland, SC
An Estill woman died Monday after her car was hit by an 18-wheeler in Ridgeland.
Tressy Wooten, 55, “was pronounced dead on the scene due to her injuries sustained by the accident,” according to a release by Jasper County Coroner Willie P Aiken.
Wooten was driving a white Buick when her car was struck by a log truck at the intersection of Ridgeland’s Cypress Branch Road and Gillison Branch Road, according to the release.
According to Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of the log truck “disregarded a stop sign and struck the 2005 Buick.”
An autopsy is scheduled for Wooten at Charleston’s Medical University of South Carolina. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
This is the second time in two weeks that someone has died in an 18-wheeler collision in Ridgeland.
On Valentines Day, Ashten Olivia Bryan of Hilton Head died at the intersection of Jacob Smart Boulevard and Smith Crossing. She did not yield to a stop sign and her car was struck by a Mack log truck on the driver’s side and pushed off the roadway.
