This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

A crash in Jasper County caused one person to be flown to a local trauma center and traffic backups on Argent Boulevard on Thursday morning, according to Hardeeville Fire Department Assistant Chief Joey Rowell.

The crash between a dump truck and a pickup truck took place around 7:44 a.m. on Argent Boulevard and Village Drive, Rowell said. Both vehicles had “severe” damage following the crash and one driver had to be extricated from the car, he said. First responders flew the driver to a local trauma center for treatment. The other driver was not injured.

Traffic on the road is flowing, Rowell said, but it is “heavily congested.”

The Hardeeville Police Department, Jasper County Emergency Medical Services, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and S.C. State Transport Police were at the scene along with the Hardeeville Fire Department.
