Car flipped over on Squire Pope Road, blocking Hilton Head traffic lane, officials say

A flipped car on U.S. Highway 278 near Squire Pope Road on Hilton Head Island caused a major traffic jam Wednesday afternoon.
According to Maj. Bob Bromage from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved two vehicles and was cleared just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Nobody was transported to the hospital for injuries.
The accident blocked one westbound lane of Highway 278. Bromage said at 5 p.m. that the accident was cleared and the lane was reopened, but there was still heavy residual traffic on the road.
