Fire severely damages Hampton Hall home
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly named the owners of the victims’ home as well as the address based on incorrect information provided by the Bluffton Township Fire District.
Firefighters worked for hours late Tuesday to extinguish an “extensive” house fire in Bluffton that left the home heavily damaged.
The flames were reported at 306 Farnsleigh Avenue in the Hampton Hall neighborhood around 11 p.m., according to a Bluffton Township Fire District news release. There were no injuries in the effort, and the owners were out of town at the time of the blaze. Beaufort County property records identified the owners as Mark and Maria Homann.
Fire units on scene initially reported a working fire on the home’s upper floor and attic area. As crews entered the home to fight the fire, they had to evacuate due to the deteriorating conditions, the release said.
They were eventually able to extinguish the flames from the outside and re-enter to put out the blaze on the inside of the residence.
The damage to the home is “very extensive,” according to the release.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bluffton Township Fire District.
The fire district was assisted by Beaufort County EMS, the Bluffton Police Department and SCE&G.
