One transported to hospital after Bluffton boat fire

One person was taken to the hospital and a 35-foot boat destroyed during an early Wednesday morning fire at the Alljoy Road boat landing in Bluffton.

According to Capt. Randy Hunter of the Bluffton Township Fire District, the boat caught fire while it was sitting on a trailer at the landing around 9 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but appears to be accidental, according to Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Bromage said the owner of the boat was taken to Coastal Carolina Medical Center for what appear to be minor burns.
