Hardeeville woman likely shot to death, police say
A 24-year-old woman whose body was found in Hardeeville on Sunday likely died from a single gunshot wound, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
The body of Syquest Lockwood Montiel-Gonzalez, of Hardeeville, was found around 3:07 a.m. near Lakeshore Drive and Harbour Drive off Purrysburg Road. The gunshot wound “ is believed to be the cause of her death,” a Sheriff’s Office news release said.
Sheriff’s Office Major Donald Hipp also said Tuesday that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the homicide investigation. Hipp declined to provide further details of the investigation.
