Hilton Head to hold public discussion after July 4 shooting. How to participate

Hilton Head will hold a special town council meeting to discuss “public safety matters related to law enforcement services,” according to the meeting’s July 6 announcement.

The meeting, which will be on July 9 at 10 a.m., at Town Hall, comes as a platform for public discussion after eight people were shot July 4 near the volleyball courts at Coligny Beach. Four people were arrested in the shooting.

Those who wish to speak during the meeting must file a public comment form at least two hours before the meeting.

The meeting will be live-streamed on the Town of Hilton Head Island's YouTube and Beaufort County’s YouTube channels, and on Spectrum channel 1304.
