One out of four individuals charged in relation to a Fourth of July shooting on Hilton Head Island has been released from confinement, jail records show.

Christopher Capers, 17, was charged with accessory after the fact in connection with the shooting, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Capers and three other individuals, all from St. Helena Island, were booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center early Sunday morning, according to Beaufort County’s online inmate inquiry system.

Capers was released Monday at 1:29 p.m., jail records show.

Jayden Hawes, 18, Quazeir Davis, 17, and Marcello Royal, 17, remain in custody on charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and breach of peace of an aggravated nature. Davis and Royal also face charges related to the unlawful sale, transfer or possession of a firearm.

The shooting occurred around 8:21 p.m. near the public volleyball courts at Coligny Beach, Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner said during a Sunday press conference. Eight individuals were injured in the shooting, Tanner said.

Information is being gathered about a fifth suspect, according to Tanner.
