Boyfriend charged with pointing gun at Hilton Head woman, forcibly entering car

A Beaufort man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly pointing a gun at his girlfriend before forcibly entering her car and punching her in the face, according to police. Jamison Torrell Greene, 39, of Beaufort, was charged May 8 with pointing and presenting firearms and third-degree assault and battery, inmate records show.

Beaufort County deputies arrived shortly before midnight May 8 to a home on Jefferson Drive, located in the Shell Point area outside of Port Royal town limits. Greene had already been detained by Port Royal police, and the victim — a 28-year-old Hilton Head Island woman — had been medically evaluated, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

The Hilton Head woman told police she had been dating Greene for about three years, the report says, and she had driven to his house that night to “continue communication” about the $3,000 she says he owed her.

When she arrived, Greene allegedly came outside, stood outside her vehicle and pointed a pistol “directly at her,” the woman was documented telling deputies.

She began reversing in an attempt to get away, but the front of her vehicle got stuck in a ditch, she reportedly told police. As she tried to switch gears, Greene allegedly opened the passenger-side door, entered the vehicle and punched her in the face multiple times, according to the incident report.

Suspect hit with additional charges

County deputies took pictures of several “raised welts” on the right side of the woman’s face, the report says, and Port Royal officers collected the firearm believed to be used in the crime. Deputies wrote in the report that Greene was facing separate charges out of Port Royal.

The victim told police the domestic dispute stemmed from Greene accusing her of infidelity, according to the report. She claimed her boyfriend had shot a gun at her vehicle during earlier incidents, police noted.

Greene remained in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center as of Friday afternoon, according to jail rosters.

Court records show Greene was also charged with aggravated breach of peace and first-degree assault and battery in the aftermath of his May 8 arrest. Details of those charges were not immediately known.
