Were shots fired at Hilton Head beach Saturday night? Here’s what we know

Police on Hilton Head Island found no evidence after receiving multiple reports of gunshots from Coligny Beach on Saturday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

The calls came in around 10:40 p.m. Saturday. Deputies arriving on scene found no suspects or gunshot victims, according to Lt. Daniel Allen, a spokesperson for the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities also checked in with local hospitals, whose staff said they did not have any patients being treated for gunshot wounds, according to Allen.

Allen said the case would not be under active investigation unless a witness came forward with information about the reported gunfire.
