Man arrested, charged in connection with 9 home burglaries in Beaufort County
A suspect has been arrested in connection to a series of residential burglaries in northern Beaufort County.
Dante Capers, 27, of Burton, was taken into custody Wednesday on four felony counts of first-degree burgulary. He remains in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center, according to jail records.
His charges stem from an investigation into a series of burglaries north of the Broad River that took place between Jan. 31 and Feb. 2, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
At least nine homes were broken into between Lady’s Island and St. Helena Island, where suspects stole liquor, power tools, firearms and “other valuables,” according to police.
Investigators were able to use surveillance footage from several of the affected homes, which captured images of the suspects, according to police. A collage video of footage shared by police shows groups of suspects, all wearing hoodies or facial coverings, rummaging through homes and parked vehicles.
The investigation is ongoing, and police anticipate additional charges. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information about the burglaries to contact investigator Cpl. Phillips, at 843-255-3430.
