Homes damaged by gunfire in pair of shootings in Beaufort County, police say

Deputies are investigating a pair of shootings in the Burton area that left two houses damaged by gunfire, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were reported.

The first report of gunfire came from the area of Charity Drive shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday. The victim told deputies they had been “shot at” but only their residence was damaged, the sheriff’s office alert said.

Around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to another shooting near Capehart Circle, about 2.5 miles from the first crime scene. Police spoke with occupants of a home that had also been damaged by gunfire.

The circumstances behind both shootings remained under investigation as of Thursday morning, the sheriff’s office said.
