Body found in marsh Wednesday night identified as missing Dale man, police say

A body found in the marsh Wednesday has been identified as an elderly man who was reported missing on Oct. 6, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office alert.

The body of Joe Nathan Glover, 81, of Dale, South Carolina, was found around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Support Unit, according to Maj. Angela Viens with the sheriff’s office.

The helicopters had been searching the area for Glover when they found his body in the marsh off of Lightsey Road.

Glover, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, was reported missing by family on Thursday, Oct. 6. He is believed to have left on foot from his home on Spann Circle.

Glover’s cause of death is still pending as of Thursday afternoon, Beaufort County Coroner David Ott said. An autopsy will be conducted Thursday, Ott said.
