Bluffton cyclist who was hit by a truck last week has died, Beaufort Co. coroner says

A cyclist who was struck by a truck last week in Bluffton has died, according to the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.

The victim was identified as Jonathan Osborne, 54, of Bluffton. He died Friday after being airlifted to a Savanah hospital.

Osborne died of a head injury and blunt force trauma, Beaufort County Deputy Coroner Andrew McNeese said.

Osborne was riding a motorized bike in Old Town Bluffton on July 27 when the accident occurred, according to Bluffton Police. The driver struck Osborne’s bike at the intersection of Pritchard Street and Bridge Street, in front of Bluffton Town Hall.

Because the investigation is ongoing, no charges had been filed against the driver in the crash as of Monday, according to Sgt. Bonifacio Perez, a spokesperson for the Bluffton Police Department.
