‘Beloved’ pet saved from Sun City Hilton Head home after fire Thursday
A house fire Thursday evening in Del-Webb’s Sun City Hilton Head is under investigation by the Bluffton Fire District Fire Marshal’s office.
Firefighters responded to the home in the age-restricted community around 5 p.m., according to the fire district’s Facebook page. They found a “heavy fire” coming from the garage, which took about two hours to control, the post said.
Firefighters were able to pull one of two “beloved family pets” from the home, the post said. The pet, a black and white cat, was given oxygen through a mask and taken to a local veterinarian for treatment, the post said. No other injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents after the fire.
On Wednesday, the fire district also responded to a mobile home fire on Goethe Road. The resident was not home, according to previous reporting by the Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette. The mobile home fire remains under investigation by the fire district.
