Fire engulfed unoccupied mobile home in Bluffton. Nearby Goethe Road closed to traffic
A fire engulfed an unoccupied mobile home off Goethe Road in Bluffton on Wednesday morning, and firefighters are still trying to put out the blaze nearly an hour after being dispatched, authorities said.
The Bluffton Police Department closed off Goethe Road to traffic near Benjamin Miller Lane, the site of the fire, as water lines were stretched across the road to reach the structure, according Sgt. Bonifacio Perez with the department.
The Bluffton Township Fire District and police were dispatched around 7:45 a.m. Perez said firefighters were still “actively” working to quell the fire when reached around 9 a.m., though the main part of the fire has been doused.
Perez said the homeowner of the mobile home was not there when the fire started, and no one was injured.
Investigators with the fire department are on the scene to determine the cause.
