Body of a Bluffton man who went missing found in Savannah River

Authorities recovered the body of a missing Bluffton man Tuesday morning from the Savannah River, according to police.

Brian LeBaron, 43, of Bluffton was first reported missing on Sunday by his wife, and authorities found his car abandoned on the Talmadge Memorial Bridge, according to Bianca Johnson, public information officer for the Savannah Police Department.

The body was found by a friend of LeBaron’s, who then notified Chatham County Marine Patrol at 8 a.m., according to Johnson.

Authorities said they had been searching the water below the bridge and the surrounding area since Sunday.

Johnson said LeBaron’s family has been notified.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Chatham County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, according to Coroner Bill Wessinger.
