26-year-old Hardeeville man arrested in deadly December shooting outside Jasper Co. club
A Hardeeville man with a long record of violent charges was arrested Tuesday and charged with killing a 35-year-old man outside a club on Speedway Boulevard in Jasper County last December, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Treivon Clifton Jenkins, 26, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in the killing of Kewayne Antonio Lee.
Jenkins is accused of fatally shooting Lee, also of Hardeeville, just after 1 a.m. on Dec. 15, 2019, outside of the Brown Derby Club near city limits.
Jenkins was booked into the Jasper County Detention Center at 4 p.m. and remained incarcerated as of Wednesday morning, according to the jail log.
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Det. Sgt. Jake Higgins said an additional arrest may be made in the killing.
Previous charges
Between 2012 and now, Jenkins has been arrested multiple times on violent charges, including attempted murder and armed robbery. According to Jasper County court documents, the majority of the charges against Jenkins were marked as dismissed or “nolle prosequi,” which means lawyers chose not to prosecute the case.
In December 2012, Jenkins and two other suspects were arrested on charges of breaking into a home that had three adults and a child inside, holding them hostage, beating the man with a pistol, and robbing them of about $200 and the keys to a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, according to a Bluffton Today article.
He was charged with three counts of kidnapping, three counts of armed robbery, and a charge of accessory before the fact to a felony. The latter charge was dismissed in February 2013, and the kidnapping and robbery charges were dropped in October 2014.
In July 2016, Jenkins was one of four men charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime after a victim was shot in the neck and lived, a Bluffton Today article said. Those charges were also dropped in December 2019.
In January, Jenkins was charged with five counts of pointing and presenting a firearm, three counts of unlawful carrying of a pistol, failure to stop for a blue light, and possession of drugs, according to the Jasper County public index. A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said those charges stemmed from an incident where a dog was shot and a gun was pointed at five people at the scene. Those 10 charges are still pending.
Jenkins has at least four other weapon and drug charges between 2015 and 2019, three of which were dismissed. He pleaded guilty to the fourth.
