Hardeeville man dies after shooting at Jasper County club. Police are investigating

A 35-year-old Hardeeville man died after a shooting at a club on Speedway Boulevard early Sunday morning, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to The Brown Derby near Hardeeville around 1:30 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a man, later identified as Kewayne Lee, with several gunshot wounds inside a car, Detective Sgt. Jake Higgins said.

A deputy rendered first aid until EMS arrived, and Lee was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where he later died.

There were no reports of other injuries, and the investigation is ongoing.

“Our hearts go out to Lee’s family and know that we are working hard to bring those responsible to justice,” Sheriff Chris Malphrus said.

Anyone with information can call the Jasper County non-emergency dispatch at 843-726-7519 or the Sheriff’s anonymous tip line at 843-717-4100.
