Beaufort Co. man charged in sexual assault of 2 children under 11, documents say

A 67-year-old Burton man was arrested Wednesday and accused of sexually assaulting two minors over multiple years, according to Beaufort County court documents.

Douglas Curt Goodrich faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor less than 11 years of age.

Goodrich is accused of sexually assaulting both victims multiple times, the first between 2011 and 2013 and the second between 2017 and 2018.

All of the assaults reportedly took place inside a Burton home.

Goodrich was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday and booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he remains incarcerated.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor is a felony and carries a penalty of 25 years to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office started investigating the sexual assaults in September after Goodrich’s wife told police that he had admitted past crimes to her.
