2 charged with multiple counts of attempted murder in Hilton Head shooting
Two southern Beaufort County men were arrested and charged with seven counts of attempted murder after a shooting on Hilton Head Island last week.
James Howard, 20, of Bluffton, and Carter Mosco, 21, of Hilton Head, also face charges of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and discharging a firearm into a dwelling, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Around 9 p.m. on Dec. 3, deputies responded to a shooting on Murray Avenue, where suspects shot at a home that had seven people inside, the release said. The suspects also shot multiple vehicles parked outside.
No one inside was injured.
The suspects tried to flee in a vehicle but crashed into a nearby ditch on Squire Pope Road, the release said. After the crash, they ran away.
Investigators eventually identified Howard and Mosco as the shooting suspects.
Howard was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center at 9:40 p.m. Sunday after an interview with deputies at the police station. Mosco turned himself in to officials Wednesday and was booked just before 5:30 a.m.
Both men were still incarcerated as of Wednesday morning, according to the jail log.
