A tree crashed down on a Beaufort home during a thunderstorm on Saturday afternoon.

The City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Fire Department helped Joshua Circle residents clear a tree from their roof around 4:40 p.m. after the storm had brought the tree down, according to Fire Chief Reece Bertholf in a news release.

Firefighters helped patch the roof and secure a tarp to try to prevent further damage until it can be fixed, he said.

Storms like the one this weekend have brought down several trees across Beaufort County in the past few weeks, with power outages and damages.

“Homeowners should utilize qualified arborists and tree companies to help maintain healthy trees on their properties,” he said, adding severe weather warnings should be taken seriously.
