Second suspect arrested in March rifle theft in Beaufort

A 19-year-old Lady’s Island man was arrested Saturday in connection with a March daytime burglary on Otter Circle in Beaufort in which a rifle was stolen.

Guy Talley III is the second man to be charged in connection with the incident, according to Msgt. George Erdel of the Beaufort Police Department. Ralph Mitchell, 27, of Beaufort was arrested June 22.

Talley is charged with burglary in the first degree and is being held at Beaufort County Detention Center. His bond has not yet been set.

A rifle and a jar of coins worth approximately $4,000 were stolen from the home, Erdel said. The residents were not present during the incident, he said.
