Suspect arrested in March theft of rifle in Beaufort

A 27-year-old Beaufort man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a daytime burglary on Otter Circle in March in which a rifle and other items were stolen.

Ralph Mitchell is charged with burglary in the first degree and was identified through analysis of DNA left at the scene, Beaufort Police Department Officer Hope Able said.

Police are searching for other suspects in the burglary, Able said.

Mitchell was arrested on the burglary charge during a traffic stop, Able said. He is being held in Beaufort County Detention Center with bond set at $75,000.
