School board contender has deep roots in Bluffton
A Beaufort County public schools English teacher and the daughter of former Bluffton Mayor Oscar Frazier has announced her plan to run for school board.
Bridgette Frazier is one of three candidates for the District 9 seat representing Bluffton that longtime board member Laura Bush is vacating at the end of this year.
Frazier teaches at Battery Creek High School, has been an educator for 11 years, and is the founder and CEO of the Oscar Frazier Foundation, a nonprofit named for her father that provides scholarships to local high school students and recognizes local humanitarians.
Oscar Frazier Sr. was Bluffton’s poet laureate, and served as a town councilman and mayor pro tem before his death. In addition to teaching, Bridgette Frazier runs a catering company, Deliciously Sweet, and serves as a board member for the Bluffton Martin Luther King Observance Committee and the Bluffton Community Center.
Two other people, Chris Epps and Bill Fletcher, have announced plans to run for the Bluffton seat in November.
