Bluffton resident announces school board run

A Bluffton junior architect has announced his plan to run for the Beaufort County school board's District 9 seat in November 2016.

Board chair Laura Bush, who currently holds the Bluffton seat, said Tuesday she will not run for re-election, vacating the position after 13 consecutive years.

Chris Epps, of Ludtke & Vaccaro Architects, LLC, says he plans to begin attending school board meetings in the coming months to develop his platform.

Epps has been co-chair and a professional seat of the Bluffton Historic Preservation Commission since 2013.

He was also a member of the 2015 Leadership Class of the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce and former co-owner of May River Toys.
