Second mobile home burns in Burton

No injuries were reported Thursday after a mobile home was destroyed by a fire.

Burton firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the Whale Branch Mobile Park on Seabrook Road around 3 p.m., according to a Burton Fire District release.

They found the home had already collapsed and was "completely involved in flames," the release said.

They were able to get the flames under control in 30 minutes.

It was determined that the residence was not occupied at the time of the fire and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is taking over the investigation.

The fire was the second in 24 hours for the Burton Fire District.

The first happened around 11 p.m. On Ratel Court in Beaufort.

No injuries were reported, but the home was deemed a loss.

The Sheriff's Office also has taken up that investigation because the fire was deemed suspicious, the release said.
